The majority of people who attend the the photography courses are women. Women who want to be able to take better photos of their families, women who want to capture their precious memories. This article is a little different to the others that you’ll find on this blog. It doesn’t contain tips and how to guides, and it doesn’t contain handy tips about Berkhamsted and the surrounding areas. But it’s probably more important than all the other articles I’ve written – it explains why you need to get in the picture.
Below you’ll find 5 reasons why mums need to prioritise getting in the picture. 5 reasons why you need to be part of your families visual memories.
Get In The Picture – 5 Reasons Why
1. This Time Won’t Last Forever
One day your toddler is going to be taller than you. Your 5 year old won’t run to you for cuddles forever. You know that because you’ve already witnessed how quick that newborn baby stage flew past (even if it might not have felt like that at the time!). Make sure you get in the photo at every stage of your kids development.
2. Do It For Them
You might feel self conscious in front of the camera. You might think you’ll get in the photo once you’ve had a haircut / bought a new outfit / insert your own reason here. But your children will want photos of you. Photos of you with them, with you how you really are. Children love to see photographs of their parents. Don’t be absent from your family photos.
3. You’re Always The One Taking The Photo
I hear too many mums saying they’re never in any pictures. That all the photos they have with their children are selfies. Sometimes you have to prioritise getting on the other side of the camera, and let someone else be the photographer.
4. Tomorrow Isn’t Guaranteed
This past year has taught us how quick things can change. How much we value relationships and human touch. The value of a hug from those we hold close. There’s never been a better time to have your photo taken, because we know tomorrow isn’t guaranteed.
5. You Deserve A Treat
Being a parent is tough. It can be the world’s most rewarding job at time, but it’s also challenging, exhausting and that’s before you add a global pandemic into the mix. You deserve some self-care, and getting in the photo is definitely self-care – for you and your family.
So, what’s stopping you? Make time to get in your family photos today.
